Adult Day Programs are for adults living at home who would benefit from a structured program in the community. These programs are designed to focus on abilities and take into consideration the needs of persons who may be living with memory loss, Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementia, physical disability, or chronic health conditions.


Adult Day Programs provide the caregiver with a much-needed break, by offering the client with regularly scheduled activities in a supervised environment.

FAQ

  • What are Adult Day Programs?

    There are 10 Adult Day programs and 17 locations within the Mississauga Halton region and are focused on engagement and in a supervised environment setting.

  • How long is the service?

    The service is available for as long as it is required.

  • Is there a cost for the Adult Day Programs?

    The Adult Day Program is partially funded through Ontario Health. 


    There is a daily rate to attend Adult Day Program and the rate may vary between Programs.  Transportation costs are an additional fee.

  • What should I do if I am unable to drive and transportation is required?

    Central Registry will assist you to apply for transportation services for the day program. There is a fee for transportation services depending on distance.

  • Is there a waitlist for service?

    Service opportunities are determined by the availability and funding capacity of the preferred provider. This can cause a delay in service and a wait time may occur,

  • Who qualifies for Adult Day Programs?

    Adult Day Programs are available for through who:

    • Have a valid HCN
    • Live at home
    • Are having difficulty with daily living activities,
    • Would benefit from a small group, social recreational and supportive atmosphere
    • Require services related to physical disability, chronic illness or condition, diminished functional and/or physical impairment, communication disability and social isolation,
    • Are 18 years of age or older
    • Do not pose a risk to self or others
  • How to apply?

  • Can I tour places before making a final decision?

    Yes, you can connect with Central Registry for an in person or virtual tour, or with the  preferred Adult Day Program. 

  • Are there any other services offered at the Adult Day Program Facilities?

    Some services offered include hairdressing, bathing programs, nail care, behavioural supports, etc., depending on the location and days attending.

  • What if attending the Adult Day Program is not possible?

    Central Registry will discuss the Virtual Adult Day Program, designed for clients who are unable to access the Adult Day Program locations.
